Meet Our Founder, Scott Sokolowski

Because Heroes Deserve to be Clothed In Dignity
Scott Sokolowski will never forget the young veteran who interviewed for a position with his company. Why, he wondered, was the candidate not dressed in proper interview attire?
So Scott asked, “Why aren’t you wearing a suit today?”
The young man replied, “I can’t afford one.”
Scott decided then and there that our returning heroes deserved to be clothed in dignity and he committed himself to doing something about it.
Save A Suit was born so veterans returning to the civilian workforce could have not just a good suit but the kind of confidence necessary for success. Since 2009, we have provided more than $2 million in professional attire and other resources to 5,000-plus veterans.
“I, myself, am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. My father served in the U.S. Navy, and my grandfather served with the U.S. Coast Guard. I take great pride in helping those men and women who have made such a noble commitment to the United States of America.”

A Real-Life “Suit Up” Story
Each year, more than 200,000 veterans return home. Eight out of ten of those returning vets don’t have a job lined up. Furthermore, one in four recently transitioned veterans earn below the poverty line.
But Darwin isn’t a statistic. He’s a Marine.

Meet Darwin
My mom immigrated to the United States and I was born here. When I was younger, I was made fun of because I am Hispanic. So, I wanted to prove that I was 100 percent American and that I am extremely proud of my country.
My time in the military was very stressful but also very rewarding because I knew I was doing something that only a small percentage of citizens volunteer to do.
I recently received a sales position, so this suit will help me maintain a professional appearance.”
